No, TechnoFresh® will only work with HE washers. It’s a special situation.
The smell in a dishwasher is from the decomposing greasy food particles in the machine.
There is very little plumbing in a dishwasher. And it is made of stainless steel or plastic so you can use any of the following treatments. Make sure the drain line to the sink disposal is clear and not kinked.
If you have hard water run a half bottle of CLR through it. When it stops foaming the hardness has been removed. The hardness build up provides a place for stuff to grow and start smelling. This is more common than you would think. It is also the cause of odor in older style laundry washers that use hard water.
If you just have food gunk use a drain cleaner – pour it directly into the drain around the spray arm and add water as directed- let it sit as directed
If you want to shock the machine use an Oxy- type bleach as you would the drain cleaner- let it sit and bubble before flushing out.
Don’t use chlorine bleach.
Important: Run three empty loads to remove all residue from your treatments
There may be a drip pan underneath that you can see from the front by removing the lower panel. There may be some smell coming from there.
